Talcahuano borders the municipality of Concepcion on Avenida Jorge Alessandri Rodr�guez, in most of its length.

Twenty-first Century

In 2004 the commune is created Hualp�n , shedding the territory of the municipality of Talcahuano, to decentralize the administration of the urban area of the municipality of Talcahuano, in order to improve the management of resources in the southwestern part of the commune.

Earthquake and tsunami 2010

 The tsunami moved boatloads from sea to shore.

On Saturday 27 February 2010 there was a strong earthquake occurred at 3:34:17 pm ( UTC-3 ), which reached a magnitude of 8.8 M Wby the U.S. Geological Survey . September  This earthquake , next to the tsunami, caused extensive damage in peripheral sectors and localities of the district, especially in the port, the center, at the Naval Base in El Arenal , in Caleta El Morro, and the Salinas area Caleta Tumbes . The tsunami prococ� Ifarle Canal overflowing populations spanning Villamar, Las Salinas , San Marcos and Vegas Perales, leaving two houses completely destroyed (Located in cale Claudio Gay East)
