Hardangervidda National Park  is a Norwegian national park located within the Hardangervidda , Northern Europe's largest mountain plateau, in the counties of Buskerud , Telemark and Oslo . The park was created 10 april 1981 , to " protect part of a particularly valuable highland area in such a way that the landscape with plants, wildlife, natural and cultural heritage Otherwise the preserved, at the same time that the area should be able to be used for agriculture, nature give us the outdoor life and adventure, hunting and fishing and teaching and research "  and covers an area of 3422 km.

The national park is the largest mainland, stretching from Numedal and Uvdal east, R�velseggi in Ullensvang the west. It is located in the municipalities of Odda, Ullensvang and Eidfjord in Hordaland county; Vinje and Tinn in Telemark county and municipal Hol and Nore and Uvdal in Buskerud county, and it borders the M�svatn Eastern Mountain Landscape and Skaupsj�en / Hardangerj�kelen Landscape and Bjoreidalen nature reserve .

The park represents a particularly valuable mountain range. It is important as a habitat for Europe's largest reindeer herd , and is the southernmost outpost of thearctic fox , snowy owls and many other species of Arctic plants and animals.
