Ballstad is a village in the municipality of Vestv�g�y in Nordland county, Norway. It is located on a small island off the southwestern tip of the island of Vestv�g�ya in the Lofotenarchipelago. It is one of the largest fishing villages in Lofoten. Ballstad is a coastal village situated near the mouth of the Buksnesfjord, where it meets the Vestfjorden. The mountain Skottinden lies just west of the village and the village of Gravdal lies about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) to the north.
The 0.84-square-kilometre (210-acre) village of Ballstad has a population (2011) of 741. The population density is 882 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,280 /sq mi)
