Valley Township Guamuez was created by Decree 3293 of November 12, 1985. The first written evidence existing on the territory date back to 1536, when Captain Gonzalo Diaz de Pineda and Francisco de Orellana, both Spanish conquistadors, departed on an expedition that left Quito Ecuador , to the nation Cofan or country of cinnamon. The site on which now stands the Ant, county seat, was inhabited by indigenous Cofan, who had formed a town called Santa Cecilia, where they remained until they were dispersed by a terrible epidemic With the death of their
