In completely flat and floodable areas covered with natural grasslands and gallery forests, typical of the Colombian Orinoco, washed by the waters of Casanare River, whose left bank is the village, and numerous pipes and minor sources, approximately 80 km south of the provincial capital, is the town of Puerto Rondon.

The foundation of Puerto Rondon is due to apureƱo Venezuelan, Luis Felipe Hernandez, said livestock is room in what was then the actual passage of Casanare.
