Re�aca is an integral part of the town of Vi�a del Mar and, as such, lacks administrative autonomy or the ability to make their own decisions. It depends, in absolute terms, of the Municipality of Vi�a del Mar . Nevertheless, due to its explosive population growth has been raised several times, particularly since the year 2000 onwards, the intention of the people to turn the town into an independent commune. They argue that they are the biggest financial contributors to Vi�a del Mar, and that pay is not investing enough in them , so aspiring to administrative independence for your funds to stay in place and are not intended to finance improvements in other distant neighborhoods. However, these arguments do not take into account the whole Re�aca Alto Mirador Re�aca, Villa Rukan and population Navy Day, a very poor and marginal sector with lots of shots, why has not continued to claim the Re�aca independence, because if it becomes commune, also should be part of it all the suburbs that are adjacent.
