Economy of Mostaganem

Mostaganem is located in an agricultural area senior and close to the first oil and gas division of Arzew . It was an important port wineduring French colonization , after independence, decolonization, the contraction of the vineyard and the development of the nearby town of Arzew has led to economic stagnation, despite the implementation of several industrial units  .

The city acquires a port of a mid-sized structure managed by the Port Company Mostaganem (EPM). The Ministry of Transport has chosen the Algerian port of Mostaganem among those expected to reduce tension on the port of Algiers . The port has seen intense activity, after his appointment among ports for receiving goods not in containers, but its reception capacity is limited  .

Mostaganem region is rich in marine life. A fishing port and marina, was to make the Salamander in 2012. This infrastructure will also decongest the commercial port city  . In 2009, four regular shipping lines connect the port of Mostaganem to international cities:Houston , Antwerp , Bremen and finally a new line linking the Spanish province of Castellón in Mostaganem  .

In 2012 , the third largest shopping center of Algeria was opened south of the city in the Valleys Gardens  , it belongs to the GroupCevital and covers a total area of 77,000 m2  .

Mostaganem is a tourist destination at the national level. It offers enormous opportunities and can become a future hub of tourism resort with its beaches, resorts, like the Salamander and Sablettes east and Cape Ivi where the pine forest down to the sea . The province has hosted nine million holidaymakers in 2009, almost all of the hotel facilities is concentrated in the chief place at the wilaya and the resort Sablettes  .
