Historical

As has been previously read, Masaya history of sinking time. But more recently born in one of their villages, where Niquinohomo the man who marked the history of Nicaragua,Augusto Cesar Sandino named General of free men who led the war to get rid of the oppression of the United States in the first half of the twentieth century . His teachings were collected by the founders of the FSLN (Sandinista National Liberation Front) who conducted the Sandinista Revolution defeating the family dictatorship Somoza in 1979 .

The strong cottage industry and maintaining idiosyncrasy and strong indigenous folklore Masaya make the ideal place to understand and learn the culture of Nicaragua and Central America.

Monumental

The church of Our Lady of the Assumption is the main city. Its facade is Baroque Renaissance even with some rest. It has three naves and has a pseudo-Gothic chapel.

The church of San Jerónimo Eclectic Neoclassical-prone. There is evidence of earlier buildings.

The church of San Miguel . Spanish colonial style. It is the most preserved temples of the time both in its construction and in its style.
