Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada and Gonzalo Fernandez de Oviedo in 1541 wrote the first chronicles about the region of Magdalena Medio, Carare Opón area. In 1547, Francisco Núñez exploits the left bank of the region on the same river, from the river La Miel.
