The origin of Puerto Libertador (formerly Bijao), dates back to 1941, when the 14 of May, the first settlers arrived, led by Mr. RAFAEL STREET CALI (RIP) who used the only means of communication for existing time, the Rio San Pedro, by then rich in fish species, which are today reduced to a minimum due to pollution and irrational use of man.
