The
colonization of the central part of North Santander starts for inhabitants of
large cities existing in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries (
Cucuta
,
Pamplona
,
Salazar
of Las Palmas
and
Ocaña
mainly. Early settlers begin to be
present at the end eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, attracted mainly
by expectations of agricultural and agricultural potential, dedicated to
working the land.
The whole
process in the region of Gramalote developed without any urban settlement until
the year 1857 .
