Spanish first (XVI century) and continued by the natives, and was not completed
until well into the twentieth century.

movement met its last major campaign in the nineteenth century in almost all
the national territory.
Its
climax was the colonization of the region of Antioquia, which being much more
massive and larger is better known than that one time settlement developed in
the rest of the country.
