became head of Llano Grande Espinal in the year 1776 In 1781 the residents of the Village of Upito , because of the distance between the Llano Grande Espinal, asked Don Antonio Caballero y Gongora, IX viceroy of New Kingdom of Granada creating your parish to which he agreed decreeing the construction of the new church on the site called Espinal. This determined the transfer of the Espinal Upito the April 3, 1783. Priest Francisco Álvarez del Pino was the first pastor of the new church Espinal from April 3, 1783, a post he held until 1 April 1808.
