Alvarado is a municipality in the department
of Tolima in Colombia. It had a population of 8,972
inhabitants in the 2005 census. It is located 20 minutes to the
musical capital Ibague Tolima capital at a distance 27 kilometers.
Its economy is based on farming rice, sorghum, avocados,
citrus, tomatoes, snuff, cotton, cattle milk and meat, agri tourism and
agribusiness. The town serves as a collection
of products
