Moniquirá was an Indian village ruled by the cacique Susa until the arrival of the conquistadors in 1755 was sold by the inspector Andres Verdugo and Oquendo and natural aggregates Chitaraque's people. In 1788 the parish was founded and in 1880 was erected municipality. There are many different neighborhoods Moniquirá diverse economy but it is a village, with a covered arena which is among the most modern in the department and a study of official measures
