Religions of Edinburgh

JuteVilla
The Church of Scotland claims the largest membership of any single religious denomination in Edinburgh. As of 2010, there are 83 congregations in the Presbytery of Edinburgh. Its most prominent church is St Giles on the Royal Mile, first dedicated in 1243 but believed to date from before the 12th century. Saint Giles is historically the patron saint of Edinburgh. St Cuthbert's, situated at the west end of Princes Street Gardens in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle, lays claim to being the oldest Christian site in the city, though the present building, designed by Hippolyte Blanc, was dedicated in 1894.
