Colonial buildings
Chinandega has some colonial buildings even though perhaps not with the same splendor of the cities of León and Granada because many were damaged during the fire and aerial bombardment suffered during the bloody battle for the month of February of 1927 that pitted conservatives and liberals during the civil war called Constitutionalists War .
Only left standing Catholic churches and some houses which still retain certain traits with their courtyards and colonial facades. Nor is there a building code requiring the preservation and encouragement of the splendor of colonial architecture as there is in Leon and Granada.
