The Quirimbas Islands lie in the
Indian Ocean off northeastern Mozambique, close to Pemba, the capital of the
province of Cabo Delgado. The archipelago consists of about 27 islands,
including Ibo, Matemo, Medjumbe, Quirimba, Metundo, Quisiva and Rolas Island.
