Travel to Parma

From the train station it is an easy walk into the historic city center. The train ride from Bologna to Parma is about one hour and there is a shuttle service from the Bologna airport to the Bologna train station. Milan is also less than two hours north of Parma along the A1 autostrada, or a 45 minute train ride on the freccia bianca inter city trains.



Parma is located in northern Italy, in the region Emilia-Romagna, halfway between Bologna (89 Kms) and Milan (110 Kms).

Its strategic position allows to reach in a short time several towns relevant from an economical and touristic point of view, such as Venice, Ferrara, Verona, Turin as well as the coast of Liguria with Cinque Terre, Portovenere and Portofino and towns along the coast of Romagna.



Situated along motorway A1 Milan-Bologna and along A15 Parma-La Spezia, Parma has two motorway exits:

1. exit “Parma Ovest”, next to the link-up of A1 and A15, about 10 Kms from town, direction Milan;

2. exit “Parma” from A1, about 2 Kms from the historical centre.

Like all motorway tollgates, also Parma has priority lanes for Viacard and Telepass holders. Viacard is a prepaid card from which the toll is deducted, while the Telepass is a small electronical device that can be easily installed on the car in order to charghe the sum directly on the account.



From Airport Giuseppe Verdi, only 5 kms away from the heart of the town, the historical centre can be easily reached by taxi, or by bus n. 11.

Flights to Rome are taking off daily from Parma, beside sporadic flights to Alghero, Barcelona, Bergamo, Bucarest, Crotone, Elba, Foggia, Lamezia, Lampedusa, Milan, Malpensa, Naples, Olbia, Palermo, Pantelleria, Trapani.



Parma railway station is linked to the main Italian towns and to the most important European cities.

Most of the trains travelling on the Milan-Bologna line stop in Parma at least once a hour and also
