In ancient time Jaipur region comes under Matsya Kingdom.  Founded in 1727 by Maharaja Jai Singh II, a Kachhwaha Rajput, who ruled from 1699-1744 Jaipur is the first planned city of India. Maharaja Jai Singh II, who ruled from 1699-1744, took great interest while designing this pink city and consulted several books on architecture before making the lay out of Jaipur. Initially Amber, 11kms from Jaipur, was the capital of this Kachhwaha Rajput. He felt the need of shifting his capital city because of growing population and security reasons. After consulting on various aspects to make a brilliant city, the construction of the city was started in 1727 that was completed in 4 years by following the principles of Shilpa Shastra (Indian Architecture). At that time, the architecture of the town was supposed to be the best in Indian subcontinent. In 1853, during the visit of Prince of Wales in Jaipur, the whole city was painted in Pink color to welcome him
