The first settlement was established
in 1850 , in the mid of the twentieth century as a result
of political rivalries unleashed during the period of La Violencia ,
was recognized as a municipality in 1962 separating it
from Briceño , through Ordinance No. 037 of the Departmental Assembly
of Boyacá , being president is Dr. Guillermo Peña Paez
