The urban environment is characterized by a
concentration of population around the urban core of the municipal center,
which offers a number of services to the population and whose economy is centered
on trade and service. The rural sector has a dispersed population with two
exceptions such as rural villages of: Herrera and Gaitán, the municipality has
97 villages, and these minor centers of trade and services, the activities of
the rural sector economic focus in the primary sector especially livestock and
agriculture.
