History of Puerto Santander

The town was originally a farm, called "The Virtues" which belonged to the township Puerto Villamizar, who was part of Cúcuta . By the need to splice the Railroad of Cúcuta with the Venezuelan state of Táchira , a station on this estate was created and so Puerto Santander, founded on July 4th of 1926 .

His name was imposed by the railway company, although it is also believed to have been given by the passage of General Francisco de Paula Santander through the town.
