The town of Piedmont, was recognized as a
municipality, by ordinance 024 of 18 November 1996 This occurred due to strikes
1994 and 1996, driven by the total abandonment of the central government and
more specifically, because the royalties oil focused on Santa Rosa and little
in Piedmont, led to the signing of two (2) minutes of agreement between the
community of the Lower Cauca Boot, as they were known back then, and the
Nation, the Governor and Company Argosy
