History of Nechi

The history of Nechí again appear with intensity in the Wars of Independence. There important battles between patriots and royalists escaped. In 1815 the Spanish defeated 200 patriots under Colonel Pedro Villapol but then, in 1820 , the story happened the backhand and forces the Patriots defeated the Spaniards.

The first chapel was built in Nechí 1680 . In 1765 there was a thatched chapel where priests officiated Mompox , Zaragoza and Caceres . Nechí's parish since 1938 .

After a long history of elevations and derogations district, the town itself was eventually created only in 1981 .
