In the beginning, depended on the adjoining garden and rich town of Andes , until in 1871 it was established as an independent town as parish. And in 1882 was erected in Garden township by Dr. Luciano Restrepo, president of the then Sovereign State of Antioquia.
Unlike some municipalities of Antioquia , Garden is still the same as it must have been for almost 140 years by the time of its founding
