the most developed and wealthy southwestern Antioquia until and clearly, in 1925 , on the banks of a river known as Pedral , explorers and settlers settle on the two sides of the same to found the villages of Hispania and Sevilla . Among them are recalled Theodosius Correa, Angel and Alejo Tocayo Sierra.

The parish of Hispania was created in 1931 , and only in 1984 the community is elevated to the status of municipality.

Currently, it remains a traditional village in the coffee region of large park full of shops and eateries ready for the party. In rural mills are located, also closely linked to the local economy and some farm hotels with the necessary capacity, which have become an excellent choice for visitors.

It is one of the youngest municipalities Department Antioquia .

Founders: Alejo Sierra , Theodosius Correa and Tulio Jaramillo Escobar , among others.

Nicknames, "The Heart of the West" and "Land of Samanes" .

The municipality owns several villages Potrerito, Cortaderal, The Chaverra, The Tablazo, Clara, Palmira, Gallinazo, La Union, Las Animas and La Seca . It has road communication with the towns of Andes , Bolívar and Medellín
