The first inhabitants of this area were indigenous tribes belonging to Caramantas and Chamíes , all major families as Tapartóes , Citaráes  and  Naratupes . Of great anthropological interest, there is not much accuracy as to which of these tribes dominated the region.

From these vague records, known more as a characteristic of all the surrounding geography specifically on land Hispania , the data is lost. The community for a long time belonged to the neighboring municipalities of
