History of Funes

Soon, vast expanses of land and farms of Funes, Capulí, Iles and Chillanquer in Yacuanquer were owned by the Jesuits, who told her evangelizing mission with the full backing of the Spanish authorities and indigenous ruling in Region 2 June 1616, the missionaries FUNES LUCAS (Vice) and Father Miguel Tellez, Spanish religious congregation belonging to the Jesuits, from Ecuador, founded the town of Funes, stay on top of and Guaitara Angasmayo Rios, by its advantageous location and good land with water, which would be inhabited by residents of Funes, ILES, IMUES and Yacuanquer.

The founding charter of the town of Funes, who lies in the national archive of Quito contains two royal seals of King Ferdinand of Spain and New Granada. The founders: FUNES LUCAS, born in Aragon (Spain) on September 15, 1576 and died in Quito on July 13, 1656 and Miguel Tellez was born in Toledo (Spain) on March 20, 1579 and died in Bogotá on 8 February 1643.

NARRATIVE HISTORY: Father Lucas Vice Funes with Father Miguel Tellez, belonging to the Society of Jesus, also traveled
