> The historical importance of this battle is that if it had not been carried out, Lucas González and his troops have arrived in time to reinforce Barreiro and surely the Battle of Boyacá would have decided in favor of the Spaniards; and the Independence of Colombia would ultimately come much later.

On August 7, 1819 in Colombia's national holiday is celebrated as the independence day where the troops of General Simon Bolivar defeated the Spanish army. But this victory would not have been possible without the participation of a thriving village and handed over to the libertarian cause as was the charaleño people.
