Cácota the October 26, 1549. " The foundation took place only in 1555, when the will of its founder and to distinguish it from Suratá Cácota gave him his own name. The parish of San Jacinto Cácota was created, as recorded in the books, April 23, 1637, and its first parish priest was Fray Miguel de Bleach, having been under the patronage of Our Lady of Sorrows.

The first marriage performed and recorded in the parish books, was among the Indians and Luis María de Cativón Ingupa, chief of two of the most important tribes in February l692.
