Salt, cement, insecticides, rugs, carpets, embroidery, and craft products
are produced in Nouakchott, with the port also exporting copper. As of 2000,
there are over 30 small or middle-sized factories in the city. Administration
and financial enterprises are also important. The airline Mauritania Airways
has its head office in the city. When Air Mauritanie existed, its head office
was in the city
