As Bagaha is the first prominent railway station of North-Western Bihar and of Champaran District, Gandhi ji had started Champaran Movement in 1917 from there. He took bath early in the morning on the well of Middle school namely D.M (Devi Mangal Singh) Academy alias Devi mangal singh uchch vidyalaya. Peon of the school, i.e. father of Jieut Ram, served him all the respect and help to catch the train in very morning to start Champaran Movement. Now the well of the school has been dismantled. There is a famous Kothi in Bagaha 1 where Englishmen used to live and rule over, after independence The Kothi become a destination for tourists as still there are a lot antique things. The place has been developed as a colony Kothi which is behind Bagaha Thana
