Tegernsee is the home town of Viktoria Rebensburg, an alpine ski racer who won the gold medal in the women's giant slalom at the 2010 Winter Olympics, and won the giant slalom title in the 2011 Alpine Skiing World Cup.
The town is also home to the sports association TV Tegernsee, whose chess club plays in the first division of the Bundesliga
