Economy of Simijaca

The cultivation of corn and beans traditionally performed, and sporadically mechanized, pea rotation is usually used for flooring. The horticulture is represented by crops of onions , the planting is done on a rotating basis throughout the year. The cultivation of the carrot is machined, including washing. Livestock is primarily aimed at the production of milk in the flat and dual purpose in highland areas. Areas with a diversity of crops in rotation are presented mainly in the town of Simijaca. Corn and beans are generally mixed cultures with 1385 ha (59%), potatoes with 390 ha (17%) and vegetables especially peas 328 ha (14%). The carrot crop occupies an area of 240 ha (10%).

In the municipality there are three pasteurizing milk 1 milk spray several factories and dairy, one industry canned and industry flowers .

Trading in the urban center are small scale, there are 200 specialized industrial, commercial and service level. There are three financial institutions. Ban colombia, Banco agricultural and Crediflores.
