Diocese of El Banco

Pope John Paul II created new dioceses in Colombia, but after his death, his successor Pope Benedict XVI was asked to formalize the creation of the new Diocese. On January 17 of 2006 , created the new dioceses in Colombia including that of the Bank, and that belongs to the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Barranquilla .

The new diocese covers an area of ​​11,855 square kilometers, with 389,641 inhabitants. It has 11 parishes, 16 diocesan priests, 2 religious, 20 major seminarians and four religious institutes.
