In 1817 the formation of the town that becomes part of the
Canton of Majagual is completed. On March 6, 1869 the village is
destroyed by an earthquake. In 1934 Achi is separated from
the town of Majagual , settling in new municipality, and its first Mayor Pedro
Barragan Mr. Constantine. Achi segregate the
municipalities of Monte Cristo (Bolivar) in 1994 and San Jacinto del Cauca in
1997.
It has 21 districts and 63 villages.
