Travel to El Pauji

In the south-east corner of Venezuela, very near to the Brazilian border, there is a tiny little Indian village, called El Pauji. In the '70 it became a refuge for the "alternatives" from Caracas. Even some Europeans settled there. The road from Santa Helena de Uairen to El Pauji (and beyond to Icabaru) is so bad that hardly anybody from the outside world comes to visit El Pauji. I did actually in 2000. I nearly decided to stay there for half a year at least but I was not enough "brainwashed"

I heard that there will be a tarmac road in the future .... Hopefully it's just a rumour. Let those people live there in peace with
