It was founded by the Portuguese in 1821 under the name of Villa San Pedro Peach , in honor of the Brazilian emperor of that time.General Fructuoso Rivera gave importance to make the national capital under his presidency, born shortly after the republic. The town of San Pedro del Peach was elevated to city status by government decree dated June 13, 1906
