Despite unfavorable weather conditions in agriculture , Hammam Sousse has long been known as an agricultural center. However, plantations of olive trees have lost ground in recent years due to the urbanization rampant the agglomeration of Sousse.

The hotel sector is emerging in the late 1970s in the region of Sidi El Kantaoui. Today, this area is home to many hotels and posh Port El Kantaoui .

The industrial activity is expressed initially by the presence of some industrial units dependent on agricultural products (milling and mill) or local natural resources ( lime and bricks ).
