León features a warm-summer Mediterranean climate (Köppen: Csb). In winter, temperatures normally oscilate between 0 °C (32 °F) and 16 °C (61 °F). Frost is common in the early hours of the morning before the dawn during the coldest days of the winter, but normally melts after sunrise. Snowfalls are not rare in the city (16 days by year), however heavy snowfalls are extremely rare. During spring, temperatures are usually between 10 °C (50 °F) on the coldest days and may easily surpass 25 °C (77 °F) on some days. Summers are very hot and dry, with temperatures usually oscilating between 21 °C (70 °F) and 35 °C (95 °F).
