History of Jalalpur Pirwala

During the Mughal Reign, JPPW was an important town as in the reign of Akbar King it secured the position of Capital of subdivisions of Multan Province. After Mughals' Decline, head of Bahawalpur named Nawab Mubarak Khan included JPPW in his estate but afterwards it was included in Multan Province by Nawab Muzaffar Khan of Multan after its capture. A famous European tourist Charless Man came across this city town in 1827. He writes about the city town,

"When British captured Punjab in 1849 & then the whole Hindustan in 1857, they governed the continent by their own style, so JPPW was graded to "Town Company" in 1873."

On June 1991, this city town was upgraded to "Tehsil Headquarter". Govt. Degree College For Boys was established on September 7, 1999 and notification to make it permanent was issued on September 9, 2002. Govt. Degree College For Girls was established fully on 2008.

Economy of JPPW depends upon agriculture. Important crops are cotton, wheat etc and important fruit include mangoes & dates
