evidence that in the sixth century , in Monimbó had a population of 250 tax.

Pedrarias began the conquest of these lands in 1524 and created the first parcel . Masaya Being located on the main road between  Granada and León (León then the Elder) and part of the way of Panama became a resting place very appropriate. This coupled with its pleasant climate and fertile soil attracted many people to settle in the city, thus leading to the birth of the colonial Masaya.

On March 24 of 1819 the King of Spain Fernando VII granted the title of
