Location of Esteli

The main river that crosses the municipality is the Estelí River which is the way the Estanzuela jumping .

Estelí River for its high level of pollution and the high rate of tree felling in their sockets and their banks, government agencies and non-governmental organizations have implemented a plan for waste water management and reforestation to try to stabilize the river pollution. 

The river has a large indigenous historical sense, at the head of the river you will find lots of stones with figures made ​​by the Indians of the early community of Estelí, are volcanic stones, incised in low relief, with figures of the elements of nature, the cardinal points, reflecting features of their worldview.
