It will not be false calling Solan The financial capital of Himachal Pradesh. Solan is an industrial hub of Himachal Pradesh. Tourism also contributes to the economy of Solan. One the tehsil of Solan known by the name of Nalagarh is also known as the Pharma Hub as after the introduction of Special Subsidies by the Prime Minister of India in the year 1999. Many major Indian companies came and established their units out here.

Solan is also developing as education hub of Himachal Pradesh.

Dependency of Population

As stated above, Solan has a rich and vast hinter land. Lot of people pass through this town on way to other destinations like Chail, Shimla etc. since it is an obligatory point. Besides this thousands of men, women & children visit Solan daily on following counts :-

For education in colleges, University etc.

For health facilities.

For specialized commercial & other facilities e.g. Sabzi Mandi, lime, stone and sand mines, other building material, cinemas, parks, offices etc.

The total population of Solan Planning Area is projected at 95, 150 persons in the year 2021 A.D. Besides this it is estimated that on an average 5 to 7 thousand persons are daily commuters. The infrastructure of the town is required to cater to this population as well.

Industry

Solan is a fairly Important Industrial town. But only eco-friendly industries are allowed to operate in and around the city to keep city pollution free,Clean and lush green, mostly electronics industries are being run in the city some of them are HFCL, Exicom etc. Apart from the well known Baddi-Nalagarh-Barotiwala, Parwanoo Industrial areas which belong to Solan District and the well known Mohan Meakin Breweries, the Solan town itself is home to many important industries namely,
