The culture of Samastipur is simple, beautiful & secular !. The main festivals of the district are Eid, Chatth parv, Durga Pooja, Holi, Deepavali, Saraswati Pooja, Makarsakranti, Vishwakrma puja, Hanuman Jayanti, and Mohrram. The Kali Mandir near river, Thaneshwar temple is a very famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, and is situated at the heart of the city. Chhath festival is celebrated at Budhi gandak ghat, as well as Baliram Bhagat college premise along with other places. It is a festival of hope, harmony, peace and happiness. Another important place for worship is Chhatneshwar Durgasthan, kalimandir, Shivmandir and Mannipur which is near Mathurapurghat in Warisnagar block . Khatu Shyam Mandir in the Samastipur market, also attracts fair amount of devotees. Navratra festival at Khatu shyam mandir is very famous. Rewari which is 16 km (9.9 mi) East from Samastipur is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesh, Nandi and Thakurji.This place is famous for shiva &sakti influence.It has an old tradition of folk songs and famous mithila paintings sung & done during festival and social occasions like marriage & birth ceremonies. several folk dance form as Kathghorwa nach, natua nach, dom domin jhijhia sama chakeva &dom kach is also practised as a culture in this area
