nearby waterfalls and most notably the Lagodekhi Nature Reserve, established in
1911 and first noted by Polish botanists for having a large variety of tree
species. Three kilometers east of the town is the border crossing with Azerbaijan'sBalakan Province. Lagodekhi is in the Kakhetidistrict of Georgia.
