It is a small harbor town surrounded by farms. While Kerteminde can
supply most amenities to its residents, the nearby city of Odense is a
popular destination for Kerteminde residents. Kerteminde is also
recognized for its fish restaurant, Rudolf Mathis and for the research
and exhibition institution for fish and porpoises Fjord & Bælt. In
Fjord & Bælt the first baby porpoise in captivity was born in the
summer of 2007. Kerteminde has a large yacht habour and a beach.
