On 21 May 1765 the Viceroy Pedro de la Cerda Mesía , Santa Fe issued the appointment of the first village headman, which was awarded to Don Francisco Antonio de Mendoza. Since then Zetaquira born to civilian life, with administrative autonomy which at first was emerging, but then has evolved according to the demands of the time.

The first settlement was built on a site between streams the "Resume" and "coal" about 200 meters north of where now stands the population. The houses there were rose straw, which contributed to a fire that razed most of the rooms and the entire chapel and rectory.

Zetaquira was the name taken by the town since its founding, but in 1858 the neighbors decided to rename it "primitive" by the San José de la Florida, a name that had no time to settle among the people because of higher orders in the year1869 retook the original.

In 1904 , after years of disagreement on what was about religious and political matters, establishing the town of San Rafael (Today Rondon ) separating it from what it is today Zetaquira
