The first houses were wake up in a place called Puebloviejo, now Bolivar neighborhood, at that time belonging to the Hacienda Las Lajas. There also arose the first chapel of mud and thatch.

The village grew and its inhabitants decided to build new homes with better materials where today is the center, leaving room for the marketplace, which operated the park where it is today Gaitán.

In this way they organized the streets and careers that shaped the population, then reached the rank of parish and subsequently the quality of town.
